Are materialist cause-and-effect explanations sufficient?
If they aren’t sufficient, why do you avoid jumping in front of a speeding bus? How do you know the effect will be your injury or death? If our understanding of cause-and-effect is lacking, it is because we do not know all the variables or how they influence one another. But the basic principle is sound. If you find a phenomenon that seems to defy cause-and-effect relationships, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.
