Are MasterCard and Visa accepted more than Discover or American Express?
By and large your answer is correct. MasterCard and Visa are generally the more popular cards as far as acceptance is concerned. But there are many exceptions, and geography and industry standards can skew that answer. While Visa is generally considered the most accepted card, I recently read that California colleges are reducing Visa acceptance. Acceptance in foreign countries varies, but many feel MasterCard is more predominantly accepted abroad. Overall, Visa is still regarded as the most accepted, followed by MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
