Are Mallory SPRINT Mags worth a dang?
Sure! The Sprint Mags are pretty much comparable to a Vertex in that they are a lower output mag that can be run continuously for circle track, street, etc. They utilize an external coil and make from 1.5 to 2.5 amps depending on the model. Many (but not all) of the parts on the Sprint Mag are interchangeable with the Super Mag. • There’s a powerful, electronic Super Mag 10, 11, etc. on Ebay cheap. Should I snag it? Take a pass. The electronic Super Mags have been discontinued by Mallory and most of the parts for them are no longer available. These units were not very reliable. Back when they were new (in the 80’s), the power transistors used in them were not very robust compared to today’s standards. The high output of these units meant that they continuously ate themselves alive and needed constant maintenance.
