ARE MAADHABS (SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT) PART OF THE 73 SECTS?
No, for the simple reason that no matter what differences they have, they all agree on the fundamentals of Islam. All maadhabs have the same Aqeeda; the only difference, is the methodology of interpretation of Quranic ayah and Hadith (as well as Hadith authentication).that have multiple meanings and/or no clear explicit meaning. Therefore all madhaab’s are part of the Saved Sect- and not a Sect themselves. Heres a brief intro into the most noted maadhabs: HANAFI- Use a lot of analogical reasoning upon principles to explain new problems. E.g. – if a Hanafi were given two contradictory evidences of equal authentication, he would pick the less harsher one. Based upon the principle derived from the hadith where the Prophet (saw) for fear of troubling the believer; does not make brushing the teeth part of wudu.
