Are longer, heavier periods with non-stop spotting expected immediately follwing Mirena IUD insertion?

It’s been over six weeks since my Mirena IUD insertion and have had a longer periods from 4 days to 10 or 11 days and with non-stop spotting in between. The blood is alway bright red never dark in color since inserted.
