Are living ancient cedar trees cut down to make the boxes?

0

No. Our raw material for the boxes come from a number of sources. Some of the wood we use is leftovers from making shakes. It’s now been banned, but until recently, shake plants would just burn it. We also find wonderful old pieces of driftwood that have their own character. We also find pieces of trees left behind when the tree was first harvested. The way we craft our boxes also conserves the wood, since the inside of one box often becomes the beginning of another. One of the guiding ideas behind the our creation of these boxes is to show what a resource this material, once wasted, can be.
