Are Literary Agents Seeking Self Published Authors?
I think I know how George Foreman felt when Ali caught him flatfooted in the eighth round, dazed, stupefied and completely off balance. Literary agents are now actively searching for “good” self published authors, according to an article on Forbes.com. When I read the article my initial reaction was “about time”. In my opinion far too many decent self published authors never receive the acclaim that they should. Then I read the article a second time. On sober reflection I recognize the euphoria that comes with feeling justified and righteous; I see now how it got in the way of reasoned analysis; on reflection I realize that perhaps this isn’t such a big deal after all. The question I ask myself is this – What in actual fact has changed? My answer – In real terms nothing at all. At first I thought I was being too cynical or perhaps too pessimistic. I don’t think so.
