• Yes. At its 06/16/2006 meeting, the Board reaffirmed a previous determination that licensed Mississippi dental hygienists and dental assistants may place and pack retraction cords under the direct supervision of a licensed Mississippi dentist. However, pursuant to item number 11 in Board Regulation 13, licensed Mississippi dental hygienists and dental assistants may not place any subgingival medicated cords; although, the placement of periodontal treatment agents may be performed by licensed Mississippi dental hygienists.
