Are license plates holders with such wording authorized, legal or misleading?

0

A. Capt. Jeffrey Patterson, Illinois State Police District 17 commander, La Salle, said he had never seen a plate holder with only those words. I know that several years ago license plate holders were being sold to the public to celebrate our 75th anniversary and those holders had the words like you described but it also had 75th Anniversary in smaller letters on it. There are no license plate holders that are authorized by the ISP. The wording that you have described could be misleading and I personally am not in favor of it, but as the current laws are written, it is not illegal. All ISP cars that have identifiable plates have Illinois State Police imprinted on the plate and not on any top of holder.
