Are LEP students entitled to any instructional modifications?

0

LEP students K-12 are entitled to have modified instruction/assessment available, if needed. The classroom teacher has to document the modifications that they have in place for each LEP student. In addition, LEP students K-12 are entitled to have adapted content area materials to fit their special needs. Following are a few examples of instructional modifications: • Teacher shortens length of assignments • Teacher allows more time to complete tests. • Teacher allow the use of a translation dictionary. • Teacher prints class notes on overhead or board • Teacher allows hands-on activities, projects or demonstrations instead of lengthy written assignments. • Teacher allows student to use notes, books and/or a word bank on tests. • Teacher allows oral assessments instead of written assignments.
