Are LEDs eligible for Smart $aver Custom Incentives?
Duke Energy has been a strong advocate of energy efficient products, and has been pro-actively monitoring the progress of light-emitting diode (LED) technology. While we believe LED lighting has the potential to save customers a significant amount of energy, we want to provide incentives for only the most efficient and reliable products on the market. Solid-state Lighting (SSL) that uses LED-source products which meet criteria for ENERGY STAR® SSL luminaires may be eligible for a custom incentive based on calculated energy savings. Testing by the U.S. Department of Energys CALiPER (Commercially Available LED Product Evaluation and Reporting) program indicates that some manufacturers are providing product specification sheets that show inaccurate or misleading information, so actual independent lab test reports are required to determine if proposed SSL products mee
