Are LED Bulbs approved by the USCG ?
Following the existing regulations, only the light housing filters (Fixtures) are subject to an official approval (it must have the right color, be tinted in the mass and resist to ageing). Luminous sources must not get an agreement. However, lights must conform to the International Regulations of the IMO, which specifies the visibility distance of navigation lights. We think that NU-LITES LEDs do probably conform to the International rules of the IMO. However, we cannot give any warranty about that. We also think that it will be very difficult to get an official paper which could attest that a product is matching a non-existing Regulation or that no Regulations applies to this product. As with other bulb vendors, we cannot invest in testing our bulbs in light Fixtures from all manufacturers.
