Are LEAs required to report a student’s parent or guardian information in CALPADS?
The parent/guardian fields are NOT required to be populated. They are collected to assist in student identification for the purposes of assigning SSIDs. LEAs may choose not to send any parent/guardian information if it’s unknown or not appropriate. For example, if the student is in an institution such as juvenile hall, in foster care after being removed from a home for safety reasons, it may be inappropriate to provide the parent/guardian.
