Are Lean Mastery, SIx Sigma, and Project mgnt certifications a plus in job hunting and salary negoiations?

Our primary concern, above all else, is not what certificates the candidate has, but what their real-world, hands-on experience is. Who cares how many pieces of paper the candidate has, if their work experience is nil? Many candidates and agencies naively think that we will be impressed by a resume with some certification highlighted in red/bold. To be honest, we really aren’t impressed. Granted, there are some exceptions in some very specialized fields—a civil engineer needing a “Professional Engineer” as part of a legal requirement would be one exception. Also, some government agencies may demand certification from their vendors. Many people mistakenly think that a certification will get them in the door, and they spend lots of money acquiring them.
