Are Lantal carpets officially qualified for the Boeing B787 program regarding their factor of sliding friction?

0

On July 9, 2007, an independent US lab tested Lantal’s loop pile carpets regarding their factor of sliding friction (FAR/CS Part 25, Airworthiness Standards: Transport Category Airplanes, Paragraph 25.793 Floor Surfaces). All carpets need to fulfill this specification to minimize the risk of slipping in an aircraft. The test examines the relationship between a weight on a floor and the force required to move it forward. To pass it, the resulting factor must be higher than 0.45. Lantal carpets passed, so they not only fulfill all flammability tests pursuant to FAR/CS 25.853 for aircraft interior materials, but also comply with the FAR/CS 25.793 specification regarding sliding friction. Thus, the first two qualities of Lantal carpets with self-adhesive back-coating passed all the test criteria of Boeing’s 787 specifications.
