Are Kiss the most overrated band in the history of rock music?
I do not know if they are really overrated. Kiss is not a popular bands based on their music it is because of their live performance. I used to DJ a metal radio show for ten years and have also done some music journalism and have conducted many interviews with metal bands and I always asked what band influenced them the most to become musicians and the most common answer was Kiss and it was usually because they saw them in concert as a kid and it inspired them to become “rock stars”. I give them their due respect for helping put guitars in so many great musicians hands. Also, I do not think a majority of people consider Kiss to be amazing or breakthrough musicians, hell, even Gene Simmons has admitted they were never great musicians but as I have said before what makes music or musicians good to people is not how good or technical it is but because of the emotions that it invokes.
