Are Iranian protests still relevant?
Yes, but have patience. The nature of the protests have changed. There are more sickouts and short spontaneous protests. Remember that protests against the Shah continued for about 2 years before his government collapsed. The sequence was: people protest. SAVAK over-reacts and creates martyrs. People protest at funerals. SAVAK over-reacts and creates more martyrs. Repeat enough times for government to lose legitimacy. In the present situation, substitute the Basij for SAVAK. Another thing: some of the young lady protesters were allegedly raped in prison. In a Muslim country this is a huge taboo. Investigations are being demanded, and if even a few of the allegations are true it could bring down the whole Iranian government.
