International students who have been granted F-1 status by the Immigration and Naturalization Service are eligible for on-campus employment if they maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and do not work over 20 hours per week as required by the INS. Along with completing the Student Employment Packet mentioned in the previous paragraph, international students will need to apply for a U.S. Social Security Card after they have secured an on-campus position. The Dean for Student Development will assist international students in procuring temporary Social Security Cards from the U.S. Department of Social Security. The office of the Dean of Student Development is located in AB 110, and contacted at (616) 632-2172.
