Are increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere a cause for concern?
Carbon dioxide is a vital component of air, which is essential to life on earth. The earth’s oceans and forests are very efficient at absorbing and recycling carbon dioxide. In recent years the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere have been shown to rise, causing concern about whether increased absorption of heat would lead to global climate changes. However opinion is divided and some scientists believe that the increase in atmospheric temperature currently attributed to greenhouse effect is a part of the earth’s natural cycle of temperature fluctuations.
