I prefer decline barbell press. Both incline and flat bench barbell press put a lot of tension on your pec tendons, which make you prone to injury. The whole purpose of your pectoral muscle is to bring your arms parallel and across your chest. You get a lot more pec involvement and less unneeded strain on your tendons and shoulders in decline press, plus you can launch the barbell off your chest more explosively. Just check out on youtube Dorian Yates “Blood and Guts” training video. Yates swears by decline press, and I certainly won’t argue with 6X Mr. Olympia!
