Are imaging observations required for all fields observed spectroscopically?

0

Yes, imaging predecessors are required for all spectroscopic observations. In the case of GI spectroscopic observations, this requirement is satisfied if a deep-enough imaging observation of the same field exists or is planned as part of the GALEX surveys. If not, the GI must plan an imaging observation as part of their observing plan. If the GI has not included the imaging predecessor in the proposal, it will be added in the technical review. To be deep enough to satisfy the data-pipeline requirements, the imaging predecessor duration must be at least 5% of the spectroscopic observation duration.
