Are IBMers or retirees covered by insurance while volunteering or traveling to and from volunteer activities?

No, IBM does not provide insurance in connection with volunteer activities, other than normal medical, dental, and life insurance held by the employee or retiree. The Volunteer Engagement Agreement, which every volunteer must accept when they register with On Demand Community, states this. You may want to ask the not-for-profit organization or school whether you will be covered under its insurance. Before committing to volunteer, you should assess whether you are comfortable with what you are being asked to do, and the conditions in which you will be doing it. If you have any concerns, you should not volunteer with that organization.
