Are hurricane shutters required to get homeowners insurance in Gales Ferry?
Back in August of 2006, several insurance companies in Connecticut began to require hurricane shutters if your home was within 3/4 mile of the shoreline. A number of homes in the Gales Ferry area would fall into this radius. Since then there has been some relaxation of this requirement. It is important to shop around since many if not most insurance companies have not made this a requirement.
