Are HTML tables good for SEO?
Hi, Yesterday, when I looked at all the code a HTML table generates, I wondered if they’re bad for SEO. Are they? Awhile ago I was playing with a gismo (unfortunately I don’t remember which) which gave the real answer. 1)Checking the content to code relationship showed that a CSS page had an average of 45% content to code, while a table-based page was only 15% content to code. That is a HUGE difference. 2)Also you can doing with well-written CSS, such as placing a side-nav after the content but use absolute positioning to put it anywhere on the page. That means that the important content is up at the top of the page for readers (and bots) to find first. 3)The third thing is that well-written CSS is so much lighter, such a smaller file – that the load time is less and the load is so much smoother – you can usually tell jsut by looking as it loads if a page is
