Are host schools expected to provide housing?
No. Host schools are expected to arrange housing, but, although it’s welcomed, they are not expected to provide it. Host schools know the best locations for exchange teachers to live, and they should ensure that they are safe and secure. Equally important, locations that afford exchange teachers with the ability to independently function in the community, get to and from school, and conduct normal shopping errands are strongly preferred. Exchange teachers receive stipends each month to support their abilities to pay for rent, bills, and normal living expenses, as well as to allow a modest amount of discretionary spending.
