Are high school honors courses weighed in favor of the grade point average and what is the minimum GPA required?
For each applicant, the number of solid academic courses, including the number of honors or Advanced Placement level courses are considered. The Admissions Committee understands that grading standards vary from school to school, or from one course to another, and make every effort to take those differences into account. Class rank provides us with some context within which to place the grades of students applying from a given school. Some schools also provide us with grade distribution charts. Finally, the admissions committee is aware of whether the applicant’s grade point average or rank-in-class is weighted or unweighted.
