Are heavy duty window grills standard?
Do not settle for “chicken wire” on stall windows. Heavy duty grills over windows will better protect your horses and will also protect windows from being chewed on by horses. We use heavy duty window grills for window and animal protection. 5. What size of windows are used? Most manufacturers use 6-lite windows on their barns (24″x28″). On our barns we use 8-lite windows (24″x40″). We know, that more day light in stalls is better for your horses. 6. What kind of shingles used on roof? Most manufacturers use 25 year 3-tab shingles on their barns. All of our barns come standard with 30 year architectural shingles. Architectural shingles look nicer, have longer warranty and higher wind load. In addition, to make our barns sturdier and heavier (to withstand stronger winds), we use heavier rough-cut oak framing with true 4″x4″ posts. Most other barn builders use 3.5″x3.5″ oak posts in order to cut on cost and weight of barn. As you can see, we don’t take any short cuts and build our barns
