ARE HATE CRIMES INCREASING AGAINST MUSLIMS?
I think there is no doubt that racism is increasing with Muslims in America. Hate crimes have more than doubled. I hate to think there are people in media who make their bread and butter by spreading hate and fear in the American public. The general cultural atmosphere allows for levels of hatred and violence towards Muslims and Arabs. WHAT IS PROFILING DOING? The main effect is that it’s alienating Muslim communities from the government. We as a community are much less eager to embrace national security policies. Muslims feel that the war on terror unfairly targets them. The fear of being singled out and discriminated against is very present and universal. Almost every Muslim is aware that this can happen; they think this because someone they know has experienced it. This is unacceptable and this needs to be stopped.
