Are hammerhead sharks easily approached?
It really depends on which species and what conditions. Hammerheads are known for being among the more docile species of shark, but some, such as the Great Hammerhead, are slightly more aggressive than others. Most hammerhead attacks on humans are in self defence, so just make sure you keep your distance and make no sudden movements. Hammerheads are safer to approach when they are in groups (eg. in schools migrating in the Galapagos), here, they don’t really care about whats happening around them. So, generally, yes – hammerheads are quite easily approached, but keep your distance, especially from solitary animals.
