Are Habitat homes free for the families?
No; Habitat families are chosen through a lengthy application process. Once they are chosen, Habitat ensures that the mortgage payments are affordable according to the family’s income. Since Meredith is sponsoring the house, our $70,000 goes toward land, materials, etc. and the money from the mortgage goes into a “pot” to secure land and build more Habitat houses. It’s a cycle of safe, affordable homes for deserving families!
