Are gym balls any good?

They are definitely good for toning – particularly your core muscles so your abs and back. The most toned I have ever been is when I did a gym ball class twice a week. We did lots of small movements that were very difficult – like where you have your tummy on the ball, hands on the floor in front of you and do movements with your legs. It is hard to explain the moves in words so get a dvd/go to a class/ find some pictures online to give you a set of exercises. When you are doing it right your muscles will be shaking through the effort of keeping your body stable. When I did this class I got a very flat hard stomach which lots of my friends complimented me on. I would like to take this up again so I tried a class at my gym but it was not what I wanted – they were using weights a lot which isn’t necessary and it seemed to be mostly arms rather than tummy and legs.
