Are guppies, neon tetras, danios, & platies compatible for a community tank?
I would personally wait for the tank to finish cycling unless you add some filter media and possibly some gravel from an established aquarium, this will give you more instant bio bacterial colonies and this is method that is used by far the most by the professional aquarium maintenance community (which needs faster more sure results for their clients). For further reading, please see this article: http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/… After cycling or adding seasoned filter media, I would start with the least aggressive and generally hardiest fish first; the guppies and platties. Then move on to the slightly more aggressive danios (although adding the danios initially is ok too, I would generally like to establish the livebearers first. Then move on to the more sensate neons a few weeks later. As the tank matures I would add cory cats (sets o 3 or more) and finally I would add the Otos as the a
