Are gun control laws compatible with the Constitutions right to bear arms provisions?

Unfortunately, when you have this debate, only part of the truth comes forth. Those who oppose firearms ownership, usually know very little about them. Of course you have quotes from some “firearms experts”, i.e. police instructors, but many times they are not too well informed. If a person is not a “shooter”, they should have no part in making decisions for the rest of us. It is akin to congress passing legislation affecting medicine or nuclear science. (Which they do all the time, by the way.) So, in answer to the original question, no, they are not compatible.
