Are guest tickets free, and what is the availability of seating tickets for guests?
All guest tickets are free. Lawn seating is open and guests do not need tickets. Due to Waikiki Shell regulations, chairs are not permitted on the lawn. Guests may bring beach towels, blankets, tatami mats or legless back rests. The number of fixed-chair seats available to guests is dependent upon the number of graduates who are participating in the ceremony. Tickets are equally divided among the graduates who are walking in the ceremony. Each graduate is entitled to an equal number of chair tickets, depending on the total number of participating graduates. Fixed-chair tickets for guests are distributed only to the participating students themselves at the end of the mandatory graduation ceremony rehearsal, which is held at 9 a.m. on the day of the ceremony. Friends, fellow students or family members may not pick up chair tickets on behalf of graduates, nor will they be mailed.
