Are Greyhounds vicious ?
Nothing could be further from the truth. Greyhounds are required to wear a muzzle when racing; however they are very gentle dogs and are very well socialized with both other dogs and humans. Greyhounds are used extensively in the United States for therapy dogs in nursing homes and hospitals because of their gentle patient natures.
Sigh. People can sometimes ask you that as the grey is calmly on the lead, waiting for you to rub his or her ears. Were they clinging to my neck and thrashing about, I’d understand the question, but then would wonder why I am not being helped by this person. Because they have to wear the muzzles, I sort of see why people ask these sorts of questions. The muzzles our greys have to use are totally different than those worn by declared dangerous dogs. Declared dangerous dog wear what looks like a mini-Alcatraz on their maul. The muzzies that greys wear look like orthodontic headgear. So wimpy, I was asked if I made it. Back to answering the question, no. Greys are, by nature, calm dogs. They do not have a guarding instinct; therefore, they do not tend to nip at kids when they get annoying. Greys usually just walk away. Disclaimer: any dog can be vicious if it’s abused.
