Are greyhound bus drivers a dying breed?
My husband, sitting next to me right now, has been a Greyhound driver for 18 years, 2 Million Miles Accident Free…here’s his thoughts…. Greyhound has the potential with the rising cost of fuel to grow their market through good managment and common sense. They have made a feeble attempt at refurbishing the buses by putting new graphics on the outside and new seats on the inside, and having the drivers dress in a more professional uniform. The business will not grow as long as the present CEO continues to cut routes and not put money into making the fleet more dependable and comfortable for passengers and drivers, i.e., decent heat in winter, decent air conditioning in the summer. It was a great career, but over the time I have been there, it has become a half-decent job, and at this point, it’s merely a paycheck wondering if I will have a job by the next pay period.
