Are graded stones (diamonds)more expensive than others?

Graded stones do fetch a higher retail value than ungraded stones but not by much. Something to keep in mind is that you can always has a stone graded by an organization such as GIA or AGS. Depending on where you live, it will probably run you somewhere in the range of $50 -$75 dollars to have it graded. Having a stone graded will provide you with a not only the grades for color, cut, clarity, and carat weight, but you can also get the proportions of your diamond (i.e. table height, girdle width, etc…). And finally, you can have your diamond assessed for value (for insurance purposes). In terms of diamond sites, BlueNile is probably your best best in terms of selection and price. From many people I’ve spoken to, you really can’t beat BlueNiles prices and purchasers have been happily surprised by the quality of diamond/ring they’ve ordered. Best of luck in your shopping!
