Are gopher turtles on brink of extinction?
Editor: What is happening to our gopher turtles? A couple years ago there were five or six turtles on our block on Addison Street in Spring Hill. This year there was only one. They are so much fun to watch as they shyly leave their holes to eat grass. One day when it rained, our turtle stood just outside his hole. You could almost hear him say “How refreshing!” Alas, he is gone. About a week ago, some teenage boys ran through our back yard. We didn’t think much about it but later found the turtle hole filled with dirt and our turtle was gone. The turtle was on our property and was not bothering anyone. What are people doing with
