I just recently started a new lifting program that is doing me fairly well. But, it includes goodmornings and stiff legged deadlifts and everybody at the gym says that I’m gonna hurt myself. I don’t arch my back when doing them, but are these dangerous?? Please let me know since I’m a little skeptical. Actually, I have to commend you for employing some exercises that I think are extremely beneficial. These are great movements that improve the posterior chain. This includes the hamstrings, glutes, and low back. Many times people neglect these areas because they are not seen in the mirror and the exercises are challenging. To answer your question though, there is no such thing as a dangerous exercise. Yes, people will tell you myth after myth about how you will destroy your back, or shoulder doing this or that exercise. The reality is many exercises that the average gym goer thinks as dangerous is actually extremely helpful. An exercise is only dangerous if you break any of the following
