Are girls really born with a fear of spiders?
I once read that people are so scared of spiders because of the speed that they run at. For their size they are amazingly fast. As human beings (male or female) we are programmed to fear such speed in possible predators. In terms of learned fear I think you´re right. Children will pick up on parent´s phobias and often repeat them. I don´t believe that women are naturally more scared than men. It´s socially more acceptable for a woman to scream and cower while the male has to act brave and catch the beast( even if he´s bricking it, he can´t show it…lol) I have no fear at all of spiders. I´ll pick them up and spook my hubby with them. Great fun. My mum once found a huge spider in a hole in the wall in her back room.She left breadcrumbs out for it and tried to keep it as a pet. She missed it whe it upped sticks and left.
