Are giant anacondas alive even today?
The green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) is the largest snake in the world. Both it and the reticulated python (Python reticulatus) can reach lengths of up to 33 feet, but the anaconda is much heavier at up to 550lb. However, such ‘giants’ as these are increasingly rare – few anacondas over 20 feet are discovered in the wild nowadays, probably due to a combination of habitat loss and larger specimens being hunted by humans. By the way, both green anacondas and yellow anacondas (Eunectes notaeus) are native to South America, not Africa as someone suggested.
