Gerber Legendary Blades was founded 1939 by Pete Gerber and is currently owned by Fiskars of Finland. Gerber Products was founded in 1927 by Daniel Frank Gerber, owner of the Fremont Canning Company producing canned fruits and vegetables. He realized the opportunity existed when his wife started to produce strained veggies for their daughter. Gerber merged with Sandoz. Sandoz merged with CIBA-Geigy and formed Novartis which sold the unit in 2007 to Nestle of Switzerland. The two companies are entirely unrelated.
