Are Gen 1 and Gen 2 two different accounts of the creation of man?
No. There is a common belief that the Genesis account of creation is just a myth or a fabrication to provide some theological basis for our existence. One of the reasons that men believe this is that they see a contradiction in Gen 1 and Gen 2. Gen 1:26-27 says, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” The passage, “male and female created he them,” leads some men to believe that God created Adam and Eve simultaneously, just like he did the males and females in the other species.
