Are geese good house pets?
House pets, no. Watch dogs, yes. I’ve never known a goose that even came CLOSE to being housebroken…and they make a BIG mess, even outside. Be aware…if kept in your yard, they do become attached to you, and they’ll spend every night camped out on your doorstep! Watch your step as you leave the house in the morning! Yes, geese will alert you to strangers coming onto your property. They also can become quite aggressive. Use caution with geese around small kids, as their bites hurt! When I lived on a farm, before coming to Arizona, we had several geese which hung out in the yard. One mix-breed gander would chase my Mom and bite at her, every time she came over…to the point that Mom came armed with a baseball bat, to fend him off! You can guess the outcome……
