Are GE Reverse Osmosis Filters a Good Choice?
I don’t think that GE reverse osmosis water systems are the right choice for anyone’s home. There are just too many problems with GE reverse osmosis filters and many other products provide better purification solutions. The lower priced models are relatively new to the market and were introduced as a choice for homeowners that are on a public water-line. While it is true that tap-water contains too many impurities and drinking straight from the tap could be bad for your present or future health, RO is simply an unnecessary step. With micron filtration, you can remove cysts, which is primarily what GE reverse osmosis filters are recommended for. Normally, RO does not remove any chemical contaminants. To help overcome this known disadvantage, GE reverse osmosis water adds a granulated carbon step. But, many chemicals, such as THMs and VOCs are not removed with granulated carbon, alone.
