Are fuse boxes in a home unsafe, or merely inconvenient compared to a more modern circuit box?
A fuse box is not inherently more dangerous than a circuit breaker panel if it is in good condition. A modern circuit breaker panel does have some additional safety features that are required in a new installation. Including arc fault feature required in all spaces where someone could fall asleep. The fuse box may or may not be required to be replaced in the event of a sale.
