Frost free freezers don’t work as good as they say they should as they MUSTN’T be overloaded. They operate by circulating cold air rather than traditional fridge-freezers which work by icing up/cooling the metal plates and radiating this throughout the food area. Traditional fridge-freezers are MORE efficient when they’re packed full as they transfer the cold from the back panel through each item of touching food. Frost free ones work with a fan at the back of the freezer (behind a white panel) distributing the air around the freezer and ‘piping’ it into the fridge through the vent at the top or middle storage area and the hole at the back of the salad crisper section. You need to ensure there is LOTs of space around food in the freezer space and even more space around the vent in the fridge area to allow the air to circulate otherwise it will freeze the items closest to the vent, so these are more efficient when not packed to capacity.
