Are freshmen required to live on campus? What are the advantages?
Freshmen at the UO are not required to live on campus, but a majority of students choose to live in the residence halls for many different reasons. Studies have shown that students who begin their college careers in the residence halls have an easier time making the social and academic transition to college. Our residence halls provide services, leadership opportunities, and programs specifically designed for beginning undergraduates. Many of these studies have also shown that students who live in the residence halls as freshmen earn better grades, are more likely to graduate, and are happier with their overall college experience.
