Are french bulldogs really hyper?

No, they aren’t super hyper. They are, however, a ‘bully’ breed, so are very stubborn and willful and need firm but fair owners who will not let them run the house. They are also quite expensive. Be very careful with Frenchies where you get your dog, the short-nosed breeds are prone to breathing difficulties, and because they are bow-legged, they have a high incidence of Luxating patellas (requires surgery, expensive to correct). These can both be nearly eliminated by a responsible breeding program. Contact a breed club for a referral to a reputable breeder who health tests, or adopt an adult from a rescue that has been thoroughly vet checked, otherwise, you’re likely to end up with some very large vet bills. Good luck!
