Are food handlers required to wear gloves and hair nets?
According to the 1999 Food Code, food handlers must avoid bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods. This can be achieved by utilizing gloves, tongs, deli tissue, etc. Single use gloves must be use for only one task and discarded when damaged or soiled. The 1999 Food Code also states that food handlers must wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, beard restraints, and clothing that covers body hair.
